A letter to the People of Lebanon

I owe you an apology. You've proved me wrong.

I had no faith in you. You must admit, history was not on your side.

I thought you would crack under fire. Israel thought so too, it was banking on it. It based its whole war on this premise. How could they not think so, any observer of Lebanon's never ending internal friction could see how feebly tied together this society was.

I saw you a month ago creating divisions on top of divisions just so you can further taunt each other. You have used every shade in the color spectrum to differentiate yourselves from your neighbors, cousins, and brothers.

I was doubting the concept of Lebanon. I was afraid it will become just another history lesson of failed sociological experiments.

Lebanon will not be a failed experiment because of you, mighty people of Lebanon. Your will will never be bent, your Country will forever be respected, because of you. An army of 4 million hardened unique soldiers cannot be defeated.

I don't know what it is that holds all of you freaks together, but it is damn special.

I was wrong about you.

Please accept my apologies.

Jamal,
Unlike you, I didnt doubt victory. Bass I really respect you very much for the fact that you are willing to apologize. hats up and a bow for you!!!

As for "fearless" I say, if you are so fearless, you should have a more public profile.

and finally, to "al" I say, yes we, as lebanese, dont mind be victorious like this every other year. and yes this is a victory, as much as people like you hate it or maybe dont understand it. as for defeat, that is something that we dont know so far (despite the destruction, and by the way, my house was hit!!) and thats something that no one can take away from us.

Jamal, your letter expresses the true feelings of many, me included.
One of the very reasons I am being optimistic.

Good post jamal.

reje3 occupation, fikkarto meit...
too bad.

now let answer stupid Al.
our army of cowards?...heh when your israely soldiers run away like rats with their high tech weapons who is the army of cowards? (unlike that the leb army that the most recent weapon dates from the 1960s)
Government can do nothing? of course its not even 1 year old.
terrorists? heh... that's what nazis called the french resistance too.
Iran and syria battlefield? how about your country isn't USA's battlefield?

bah... happy?

Kodder said...

lol at Al.
the little guy is full of himself... how old are you? 12?

let me say something for you Mr al, or sissy Al might look better on you :).
the army of clowns as you say it is is highly respected by the lebaneses now, even that it can do nothing against terrorists like your country. Unlike in israel where the Army that cannot be defeated were fucked really good up its sissy pussy by a low tech resistance not even 1/8 the amount of soldiers of israel that were inside lebanon. On top of that they were running like rats.
You look at beirut and you wonder if we would do that again. Its stone and it can be rebuilt, and the people who are dead are martyrs and will be remembered forever, but our pride is higher than ever, unlike the israelies that are losing faith in their army, go look at hazareeth newspaper and you will see what they are saying.
The isralies lost faith in Olmert( probably will be kicked out too)...
ah just checked you are an american, go back to your burgers and your reality shows (how clean is your house) and leave the blog for us you sissy.
you talk from so far, counting on your stupid zionist media and you think you know everything. Go educate yourself with some european news to know what is really happening.
Le snif, me american me brainwashed, snif, me only know about israel poor little country that is defending itself from the big bad wolf that arabs are. Snif, poor Israel, Arab bad, israel good. Snif.Mami why arabs always kill israelies, israelies are always good, they only kill 10 children its not like they are killing a 100, why arabs are killing them. snif.
Anyway enough of sarcasm...
really go watch tv, some cartoon will be good for you.

PS: sorry for all the good lebaneses in here for the few bad words that are in here.

Kodder said...

Al you crack me up... did I start the insults or you did?
check your posts. when you insult me country its personal, when you insult my army its personal.
when you insult like an idiot you will be isulted, and never challenge a lebanese with an insulting "contest"

and about the lebanese political journal I bet you read the article that was posted by cedar-guaridan, and let me tell you that I know at least one person that I know on the same blog that doesn't agree with that. if he wants to talk (he checks this blog).
and then since when one blog generalise what the lebanese are saying? jamal's blog is here and he is lebanese why didn't take him into account. go get me newspapers articles that support that.

and about the ability to flatten lebanon, 1.. israelies arent stupid all the time. they already have most of the countries against them, they will not do anything stupid even more.
and even if they flatten lebanon, that will only make lebaneses people stronger and make us want to kick its ass.

and why you only see what hezbollah is doing? didnt you see enough what israel did? oh I bet you didn't it wasnt on American TV I bet.
more than a 1000 dead 30% children, weapons that are banned, they dump oil on lebanese beaches that will need 10 years to get cleaned , those you don't see? how about

When you want lebanese to talk as you claim you don't start by insulting our army, eh fucker?
go choke on a burger.

Kodder said...

oh forgot to reply on the french resistance part.

1)israel still occupies part of lebanon.
2)hezbollah attacked an army convoy, perfectly legal if part of lebanon still occupied... israel replied by bombing civilians then hezbollah started bombing the cities. so if you want to blame someone blame israel for starting the war. Not forgetting that israel crossed the blue line thousands of time either by air or small groups of soldiers since year 2000.
all those allow to attack israel thank you very much.

What is "Occupation" said...

kodder,

congrats.

your side has won!

enjoy rebuilding!

btw, do you think hezbollah will attack israel anytime soon again?

really, look at your win...

1000 lebanese dead, 3 billion in infrastructure destroyed, 4,000 wounded and for what?

to kidnap 2 israelis and kill 150.

again, you won, israel lost.

congrats.

Kodder said...

there is something more important than stones and numbers.
its called pride. unlike israel which has its ego crushed now.
Thanks you "occupation"

the word coward is insult enough for me.
And Al,stop waisting your time and leave :).
thank you very much.

I read the article, what a bunch of bullshit. So a lack of equipment is cowardness?
poorly trained? hah... if you get an israely soldier without his fancy equipment he wouldnt be even worth a hair on my ass, my grandma could kick his ass.

now anymore stupidities you want to say?
I bet you do... so lets hear them.

Kodder said...

oh btw, just saw the lebop.blogspot.com article...
what a nice way Al... apparently you read what you wanted in that article.
hah... I urge people to read the whole article and judge for themselves :).

Kodder said...

hehe dania.
saw some interviews on that.
the israelies were smoking cigarettes shaking all together, scared and almost crying.
they said they were fighting ghosts and not humans.

Eve said...

amidst all my spanish translations today, I forgot to tell you how much I loved this. well, here it goes, I love it, stofel :p

Kodder said...

hehe thank you thank you.
but had enough of all the stupidity around I was pretty calm for 33 days and its usually not me.
I only half attacked who ever was here.
but now its enough, if they don't like it they can go spread propaganda elsewhere.
my dirty mouth is ready and it has alot of potential.
we lebanese have twisted insults that can make the worse potty mouth in alot of countries blush :P.
its not a very good thing :P or to be proud of but oh well it can be pretty handy in moment like these.

Hi all,

I just want to urge you all, especially the Lebanese, because I am Lebanese, to pause for a second and think about things. Did you listen to Nasralla today? His "victory" speech was inflammatory, he is trying to send warnings (threats?) to Lebanese politicians. He reminded the Lebanese politicians that they are dealing with winners not losers, meaning that they are going to capitalize politically on their "victory". People, pride is not only in a militia surviving an onslaught. There is pride in having a fully functional state- a state with sovereignty on its land, all of it. There is pride in not being lackies for Syria and Iran. Already the Syrians are hailing HA and branding everyone else as traitors. If your vision of Lebanon is a state controlled by regimes like Syria and Iran, then by all means proceed on the same path. Push for democracy, push for HA having a strong political wing, but do not support them as an armed group. Just pause for a second, take a deep breath and think about things. I implore you. What will this "victorious" Lebanon look like? How will life be in it ?

The people smiling over the rubble of their homes were indeed great. The fighters who fought so well against the israeli military monster were also great.

But Nasrallah who, prior to July 12, had claimed that his weapons served his strategic goal of "equilibrium of terror" failed completely since his vaunted equilibrium turned into unqualified disaster.

If he claims that the israelis lost because they were not able to achieve their stated goals, he failed miserably because his own stated goal of dissuasion (and thus security) through missiles proved a sham against a super equipped army bent on ruthlessness.

Truth is everybody lost: The Hezbollah and Tsahal because they didn't meet their stated goals, the israeli people because they spent a month of relative hell and most importantly the lebanese because they got destroyed.

The Israeli people will probably take Olmert to account but what I find mind-boggling is that the Lebanese (mostly Shias) applaud Hezbollah and Nasrallah who wants to keep his weapons for more brilliant action in the future!

I must have missed something.

What is particularly revolting is that in his speech tonight, he claimed that lebanese negotiators had come back neither with the Shebaa Farms nor with the Lebanese prisoners and that they therefore had no right to ask him to disarm.

But Mr.Hassan, they got an impossibly good deal that put a break (hopefully solid) on the full destruction of Lebanon. Is that so bad?

This Nasrallah guy is a decidedly low character and the worst possible means of toppling Lebanon's failed and corrupt political class. After all, wasn't he himself part and parcel of the Syrian system of abuse (mostly against his Shia constituency) and looting (telecommunications, electricity ...)?

Why would anybody with half a brain believe that he is a true resistant since he never fought the syrians choosing instead to keep a hostile stance against the israelis even after they had left contrary to his will?

How can he still claim that the May 17 1983 Accord between Lebanon and Israel was such a bad one for Lebanon given all what came afterwards?

The big disease of Lebanon and the Lebanese are official lies and Hezbollah is currently producing them with industrial efficiency.

Randah, yes Israel initiated the full destruction of Lebanon. But do you understand that Israel had showed (again) its hand in Gaza a few days earlier after the kidnapping of one soldier and that Texas-Old-Em Nasrallah, by killing three soldiers and kidnapping two on the other side of the UN-recognized blue line nevertheless invited them to a poker game in Lebanon using the Lebanese people and economy as his chips? Does cynicism shock you at all?

My God, you guys make me sick.
I will never feel like celebrating as long as our poor country's fate is in the hands of that fat bearded asshole.
I will only celebrate once he and his men are weaponless and start acting like members of the government, not like The Government.

callipyge said...

wow Dania, you're so enlightened.
It's so nice to take some time to talk to idiots like us.

"whatever you think of Nasrallah": is this the way you envision politics? taking it in the ass by whoever is stronger?

It makes me sick when people think in "short term" mode.

I agree that Nasrallah and the Hezb might be doing good for some Lebanese in the short run. But be assured that their long-term plans are not centered around keeping Lebanon "Lebanese" in the way we know it.
The day I will have to watch my speech or alter my lifestyle according to rules set by his party, I will flush my passport down the toilet. Or frame is as a souvenir.

R said...

People, please wake up and smell the coffee. Don't you see anything undemocratic in the way Nasralla behaves?
His party is going to compensate for the losses! It has an army! They choose when to wage war and when to declare truce. They want to dictate policy! If thats not a state within a state, I donno what is.
If you are fans of Iran and their "style of management" , then fine. Otherwise, a little dissent and questioning is not a bad idea.

What is "Occupation" said...

how do you say "i surrender" in persian?

Israel aint your enemy...

oh that's right... zionists... that is the problem

lebanon aint supposed to be... it's just part of greater syria, which has sold out to the iranians....

"al" the izraeili asks: what constitutes a victory vs. what constitutes a defeat for the lebanese people? why do the lebanese consider themselves victorious? al lives in an isolated "reality" called izrael, which is very similar to the un-reality of the blogosphere. talk is not cheap, talk is free. the only real reality is what is on the ground. the only reality is that izrael will always leave lebanon with its tail between its legs, having achieved none of its aims. listen "al", now me teach you: victory is a state of mind. when a person or a people choose to refuse, they are victorious, even, and especially, under relentless slaughter and destruction by way of the most elite and technologically sophisticated weaponry izrael can dish out; they keep refusing you. all arabs will keep refusing you, not just lebanese. you will continue to live among them and you will continue to be refused. defeat is also a state of mind. israel will always feel defeated because it will never come down from its lofty mental superiority complex to accept the reality of its existance: it exists only on the pretext of expulsion, occupation, and a u.s. sponsored paper-tiger economy. it can only exist by means of the least effective and most superior weaponry, its mighty military, in the midst of a sea of hundreds upon hundreds of supressed arabs and muslims. israelis have long ago thrown themselves into the sea, mentally.
