The Romanians are willing to compromise by withdrawing the invitation to the Prime Minister and instead inviting a couple of not so prime ministers. However, they are still stubbornly refusing to budge on the Constitutional Council issue. Bush, however, promised he won't rest until Romanians stop interfering in Lebanon and stop impeding true democracy. He won't rest.
He'd better do something before they start Ceauşescuing the Lebanese. On second thought, there are a fewthat deserve to be Ceauşescued... peacefully and democratically of course.
For the record, when I say Romanians I'm just referring to the Romanian regime. We love the Romanian people and we appreciate their labor force's contribution to the Lebanese economy, especially in Summer. Some might argue that they take jobs away from the Lebanese but that is not true because the Lebanese just won't do some of the jobs the Romanians are willing to take.

you are talking about the romanian girls of mameltein i guess
"Some might argue that they take jobs away from the Lebanese but that is not true because the Lebanese just won't do some of the jobs the Romanians are willing to take."
blow the wing song, job dylan
(hidden message above)
HAHA! The difference is the Romainians get paid for doing it while the Lebanese deny and hide that they do it for free!
Wrong.
Lebanese girls are more expensive agy.
well most of them anyway, there are some nice lebanese girls who are changing. Some of them even have their own womens only blog.
Anyway, the other lebanese pricesses, expect to be driven around, picked up, paid for, invited to dinners, paid for their drinks, and them without even doing anything in return.
some guys sit for months with no sex from their leb girls.
I know some people *wink wink he knows himself (he reads this blog)* that only date foreign women.
inno why bother? inno like it or not dating has one goal : SEX.
but unfornuatly I have some standards I wouldnt go out with a girl that only knows how to say yes and no and a few words in english (Romanians)
need to communicate with the girls.
Inno some challenge to get sex is nice, a girl who is too easy is boring.
but come on, girls, impossible challenges make you lose boyfriends, specially in summer when foreigners and lebanese living abroad come here and are looking for some fun one night stands.
Kodder,
I have been with some interesting Lebanese girls that want nothing more than to head to your place. The funniest question i have ever been asked was "do you think that i'm easy". This is after getting to know her that same night. I know the type that you have to wine and dine and end up going home alone with your hand. The thing is Lebanese women that I have met have been either like the Romanians or Angels. The problem is there is no middle ground.
Best, agy
I love the middle ground dude.
Getting sex the same night takes the fun out of it.
okie sure you get sex, but I like to work for it a bit.
when you work for it and you get it, it tastes much better.
but the angels...bah... ma byis timma el imma... are a turn off.
I want the middle ground damn it, I want to wait 2 weeks or 3.
I dont want it the same night and neither 2 years later.
:P.
I wonder how when these topics come up, no feminie voice is heard.
Hey Lebanese sisters, aren't you going to enrich the scientific theory of time-lenght-based-sex?
Laila.
Yes please enlighten us, I wanna know the female point of view.
Laila,
Maybe the sisters are busy screwing the guys by not having sex with them.

hehehe Jamal :P
Well, I prefer to look into my heart (Necessary notification: Heart is located in CHEST!). No regulations and criteria for these things. I'd like to be a lover rather than a calculator or a coronometer.
Kodder, why does it always end up being about sex?
I wonder why the lebanese hearts are different from the hearts of the rest of the world.
hassan, why not?
humans have 3 necessities : food,Shelter and sex.
its something natural and this is what makes us human.
A famous Quote from Mouse in the Matrix: " to deny our own impulses, is to deny the very thing that makes us human."
kodder & company: grow up.
:)
Well EVE apparently I am not the only guy frustrated.
even you can find comments on the libanaise blog on the post regarding the song depicting lebanese princesses as said by one of your posters.
Anyway, if its bothering the sensitivity of the women in here. and since this is not my blog to say what ever I want. I am stopping commenting.
Take care Eve.
food shelter and sex make us human??
Kodder my friend, I think you have it backwards, despite the fact that you quoted a timeless reference on humanity and human philosophy ie The Matrix.
Read again.
"humans have 3 necessities : food,Shelter and sex.
its something natural and this is what makes us human"
You write again.
I need to stop commenting here. or some of the sensitive women in here will kill me.
move the discussion to my email, or any of my blogs that you want or what ever.
Jamal has been a really nice host leaving all this debate in here.
But I am still restricting myself and saying what ever I want simply because I know my comments will be deleted (and no no bad words involved).
and Fouad take any psychology book and check the first 3 necessities for humans. the 3 necessities that without them we cannot function properly as HUMANS, meaning a lack of any of those will make us really act as animals(ironic since some people will say that sex is "animalistic"... but deprive someone from those 3 in any society will result in more crime, stealing, killing, rape etc...)
any psychology 101 book will tell you.just check them out and you will know.
that was my last comment on this post, if anyone wants to talk to me more, email me.
Well..this I see has generated an interesting discussion...I am a lebanese girl to the bone, the one u called " ma bayes timma ila imma..the turn off", and I v been living abroad for 4 years now..still lebanese to the bone, since it is so difficult to shake off years and years of being raised this way... I will tell u at least an honest lebanese girl perspective..Lebanese girls are as frustrated as you are, and would love to have sex as well, and it takes quite a bit of restraint to refrain from it..but just think honestly and consistently, how do you look at girls that are easy? how does our whole society refer to a girl who is Ok with having sex and having "foreign like relatioships"..how much pressure is put on girls to be "good", so that they can keep their guy..it is not all about tricking and manipulating as u made it sound..it goes beyond that..
Yes, I totally agree with the last comment -anonymous- (beginning with 'well....this I see")if I ignore the Arabic words which unfortunately I don't understand. The criteria of a paternalist society are mainly defined by males. I don't deny the girls' responsiblities in spreading ignorance and strenghting stupid taboos- of course. But when faced with the negative and humiliating looks upon us, the fights gets more tough. Instead of supporting us, they join millions repeating the same nasty cheap words.
Besides, I wonder how many of men here, judge the girls according what comes from their mouths rather than the size of this or that part of their bodies..... Well, still I believe in what I said before. I look into my heart and I don't give a damn if the other side is stupid to call me 'b...' or so (Roderick I don't mean you. This word is used by millions).
Anon Lebanese Girl,
I understand that Lebanese girls are also frustrated. Lebanese society has made sex such a taboo topic. Now over the past couple of years it has been improving as people are more and more willing to try things for themselves while ignoring society. An easy girl is not defines as a girl who has had a sexual relationship. An easy girl is defined as one who willing to throws herself at any opportunity she can get. Why is sex such an issue? It is such a simple and natural concept. People tend to give it more attention than it deserves.
Sett Eve says: Niyyel Libnen fikon. it seems your area of competence is limited. ma3leih, not everyone is fortunate enough :)
My Take on this subject will come later.
As for deleting comments, I won't do that unless they contain personal insults to other readers, so keep it respectful.
I gotta run now, but i'll check back in in a while.
okie guys, following what Jamal said, he is giving me a green card to comment.
I read all the comments. and I noticed 2 different approaches.
The women in general think that if they have sex with men, they are "bad".
And The men just want sex because they think its part of a healthy relationship.
For the women? is sex bad because of religious reason?
the way I see it: only a few really follow their religions. The others do not bother at all.So religion reasons are sort off out the way.
Is it fear of society? maybe... tell me who the people that matters to you?
your parents?... I bet they arent religious, and if they are its your life.I think the only reason they try to tell you to be good is that they still think that "bad" girls cant get married.
Your friends?... Come on... do you really need friends that judge you? if your friends judge you, then you need new friends.
Future husband?... if he is so uptight, conservative. Would you really marry him? because you know then that he will put you in the kitchen and make you his baby making machine.
Strangers?...Do you really care?
Now for the guys with double standards(which are becomming rare lately...okay women? RARE)
If you think you are allowed to have sex, then she is allowed too.Stop living in the stone age.
She is allowed to love before you.She is allowed to tear that little skin that has no meaning. It doesn't say that she is a bad person. If you consider sex is bad, then cut your penis and go isolate yourself in some kinda moutain and mediate.Sex is beautiful when shared.
I completely agree with Kodder’s last comment girls and boys shouldn't refuse to have sex because they fear our "conservative" society. Religious reasons are understandable but I will never sacrifice my life for Society rules. In the same time I think that Lebanese girls refuse to have sex because they are still afraid of macho culture. And I think Lebanese guys are to blame because they may seem very open but most of them still consider their wives virginity is their instinctive right.
Thank you SH.You are the first female that isnt jumping on my neck for saying what I believe.
Yes some lebanese guys are to blame... the @#$@#$#@ who wants to have alot of sex but wants to marry a virgin.
If there are so bothered by a teared up skin there are alot of fast plastic surgeries to fix that problem.
What he doesn't know won't hurt him.
I fail to see why some men wants virgins as wives. The way I see it, a big part of marriage is sex. No sex before marriage will render the marriage dull
after few years, as you hear by alot of people that they dont have sex anymore after marriage of few years.
People tend to forget sexual compatibility, a great part of human relationships.
Which is worse? dating for 2 years, getting married, have sex to discover that you hate the sex with each others, stay married by fear of judgement by society, get kids, then finally when you cant take it anymore, you divorce..lawsuits, courts, broken families, hurt children?(abit of exageration in here, but it happens)
Or? having sex after a week or two of dating, check compatiblity if yes continue and make it more, feelings can start to grow stronger, If not no harm done you break up
its not sad its only a 2 week old relationship.
As Roderick said, we are the society now, we can change.
and as For me I REFUSE to marry a virgin. No way in hell I am gonna a virgin, that would be so damn boring for me.Stuck for life with a woman that has no sexual imagination what's so ever, because they think sex is bad before marriage(you know that doesn't change, because in their minds they will always think sex is dirty in one way or another).
Our society is all about sex is bad, sex is dirty, older generations do what ever it takes to feed this info to the younger generations.Sex before marriage will lead you straight to hell, no body marries a dirty woman, circumcision (yes circumcision is a way for sex control, not because its "Cleaner"...see the clean/dirty part again).
A guy that I know had hernia(sp?)(Fta2 in arabic), so he told me that the woman physician that saw his condition asked him:Where you with a dirty woman?.Its not only men who label sex as dirty, women too. In What right she is allowed to label a woman dirty when she never even met her.if having sex is dirty, we should do alot of stuff... first of all lets never go to the bathroom ever again because its the dirtiest of all.
okie enough ranting...
I thought this guy volunteered to shut up.
plenty of typo mistakes...I am damn tired.
anonymous... jamal gave me a green card :).
so dont read if it bothers you.
who ever you are MS. Anonymous.
Koder, you bring up some good points but neverthless Lebanese society has a LONG way to go still. You might be open minded but MOST people in Lebanon arent. There are mainly 2 categories in Lebanon.
1) The girls that think that sex is wrong before marriage. (they have been fed the idea that sex is bad and dirty and they usually hang around men who voice their opinion that women who have sex before marriage are B**** added to their families reminding them about the all important "family reputation").
2) The girls that will have as much fun as possible before marriage but will do the little "operation" to fix everything before the big day.
What i want to say from all of this is that our society is still quite behind and this is not only in terms of sex before marriage. Lebanese society is also quite racist, sexist, homophobic, it had no respect for human rights...etc. Basically, it does not accept ANYTHING that challenges its accepted norms
What are WE the new generation doing to change that ? do u think things will change as the old generation gets replaced or will it be pretty much the same?
blahhh... sorry for the long post.
I think it will change, some things for the better some things for the worse.
but sex wise its changing a bit, not as fast as I would like it to be. but okay.
but even so there is a big difference between who are 24, 25 and women are 20-21.
those 3 years difference seems to make alot of differences for some reason.
maybe its related with the war and which year in their lives they were born and what events were around them.
Ya Roderick,
First off, very funny little saying (De2 el may may), I haven't heard it in a while so totally made me smile. However, it was not used properly. I was NOT saying we should not do anything about it but rather asked WHAT are we doing about it? what are WE the new generation doing to change social norms?
Second of all, I dont think that I need to list my sexual history to you to prove my opinion.I would not be saying what I did if I do not believe in it! Nonsense...
by the way, i am not that the other anon that left a previous comment
doha thank you.
I know some guys are total %#$%#$%#$ , you have the power to ignore them.I know its hard in this country with everything that's going on.
But I would like to see some women that defy the rules. Damn the rules to hell.
as long men think they can be in control they will be in control. Defy them.(yeah some men will kick me now).
But really really, I do not like submissive women.
And yes seems men who are commenting here are miniorities. But believe me they are more and more of them.
In fact between my friends, everyone think the same as me ... well not as perverted as me. but okay.
I know I am excessively open to such things. But really really not all men are still that backward.
and Really women, if you stumble upon those kinda men, why on earth you would want to be part of their lives as wives or gfs or wahtever.
just move on to find a guy that's worth it.
The guys who are #@$#@$#@ when they find they arent getting anything anymore, and they are losing control are bound to be nicer and open minded at the end.
People who are 40s+ will not change. 30s will be more resistant... but the young generation 18+ they can change. its really still possible.
Roderick, "I am a bit of everything, so I found this proverb. I like it :D It applies on all girls of the world by the way (except swedish) They will follow you if they want, and if they don't they will kick your ass :D"
Thanks for the tip. :)
Roderick,
Fair enough ! we should all be doing our share and I try my best to change the opinion of my friends and acquaintances as much as I possibly can.
ps: I am not the one that has been living abroad for 4 years and ma beyes temma ghayr emma? (not that I think that there is anything wrong with that as long as that girl is choosing that kind of lifestyle because she is truly happy that way rather than is being forced to conform).

Roderick,
I am a 23 year old lebanese living abroad (california) and have been here for a few years now. and you roderick? kodder?
Absolutely Roderick, it doesnt only apply to sex.
There are so many things I wish to be changed in this country.
I have this strong Love for this country and Strong hate too.
Inno this country has ALOT of potential, but all the potential is escaping abroad, because of weird things that happen in here.
Repression, Repression and more repression from any kind not only sexual, political repression, human repression. And others said, plenty of racism, sexism, sectism
that makes living in lebanon unbarable.
I am trying to get out of here, simply because of these repressions.
I need a damn good job, I need a relaxing life, I need to go out and do simple chat with a strange girl without she feels that she is watched and what would others say of her if they see her talking to me. a bit of freedome .
MK, I am 25 lebanese guy living in beirut. for how long I don't know. I can't find a proper job in here.
WOW..this really generated abig discussion..and Lots of good points..I am the girl illi ma bayes timma illa imma, and yes by choice...I am actually very happy to see comments like yours Koder and Roderick, and more so ur comment Ali..and I agree that change NEEDS to happen..not to have a society where by the time you are 16 it is "wrong" if u r still a virgin..but to get the freedom of meeting people, without being watched, without being talked about and without being afraid..and to have a physical relationship, if u choose to.. I am from a generation 2-3 yrs older than u..regardless, of what u said Roderick about not taking much credit from me, it is not fair to judge this way..I am giving an honest, non polished opinion, and stating what I think....6 or 7 years ago, living in lebanon, I would have never even thought of discussing this (sounds retarded even to me now), but it is true..The way we are raised that sexual intercourse is bad, taboo, etc, etc is so deeply rooted, that it is hard to get rid of..traveling alone was not easy for me, "binit rayha 3la america la7alek?", "rah teamnelek el-jam3a sakan?", "ikhwatak el shabab rah yekono ma3ek?"..and tons and tons of snyde comments..I did not give a damn..I wanted to get out, la7ale and pursue what I want, and I did and I am happy..but the "SEX" issue is so deeply rooted in, you can't just shake it off..
btw Kodor, it is not true that girls who never had sex do not have sexual imagination or will be totally boring, u do not know what is in their imagination..
I share your opinions that sex is a very important part of a relationship, not the most important one though..I actually suffocate just at the thought that I might end up with someone who is not sexually compatible ..and your point Kodor is well taken: how would you know if u r compatible if u do not try?
true, very true..but ignoring the social pressure is easier said than done..and lebanese men are not all like what u r describing, and they can be quite hurtful.. the way I look at things now is sex is essential, and we need it..u can choose to satisfy your sexual urges, sleep with every hot guy/girl who turns u on, or u hold yourself and look for some level of deeper connection before u jump into things..that the way it goes in my head...
some of the points u made about our society r very true, and I hope change does happen..but u can not go around and judge lebanese girls if they are "angels" (btw, do not agree with that description, it takes much more than only not having sex to be an angel) ..the way to change is to raise girls to be proud of being women, independent, achievers, assertive and not afraid to follow their dreams..change on the outlook on relationships will take sometime, from personal experience..but lebanese girls do ROCK..give them time, and try to understand how they feel.. This is becoming so long and is bringing so many topics to my head..I am gonna stop..have to do some work..
I like the fact that some lebanese men r thinking this way though..and Jamal thanks for allowing comments..
Rania
i see the usual 'lebanese bloggers' gang hasn't commented here except for our dear Eve who obviously had better things to do but nevertheless managed to comment.
as for the horny guys who enjoy publishing 2 comments per second, i propose you cool it dudes. we know you're horny, we know you're cool, we know you have sex all the time and we know you are adults and proud of it. you're not unique, you're typically 'lebanese'. more 'lebanese' than tabboulé and arak.
you are more 'lebanese' than all of the rest of the lebanese. i bet you are the first to be waiting in line at edde sands and crystal.
so what's with your b****y attitude and the agressive way of describing the lebanese girls? cool it dudes. the subject you are tackling is everything but new, and your input to it is anything but constructive and interesting. who cares to read about whether you would marry a virgin or not? you obviously lack competence in analysing the layers of the lebanese society and its complex constitution. sheddoulé 7alkon shouey. go m****rbate and once you're ready to discuss with respect, then you should expect some input from our internationally acclaimed female bloggers.
[ j i m m y ]
exactly jimmy, but i stopped reading since comment 30 or so. some things are just not worth giving an ounce of your attention :)
now i know l shabeb el taybeh were aiming at "69" comments as a closure, so, so so sorry to spoil ur achievement.
Obviously some people are too busy leading a virtual sex life and bragging about it on other people's blogs that they do not have time for it in the real world (because in their 2 hour-break from blogging they head for the gym).
Shoo, is it the comments that turn you on or what?!
Inno ma3leish... horny 15-year olds can do better than you guys!
Rania thanks for a great comment.
its amazing. I wish other girls like eve who only knows how to be sarcastic about what we are saying, tries to say something as enlightening as you.
and the rest who thinks of as horny 15 year olds and that's it. Rooho ya kbar, have you reached enlightenment yet, seperating yourselves from your physical bodies?
did you ascend and join other enlightenned people yet? good for you.
I am still human, and my body still has some needs.one of them is sex. Deny it as much as you want. its your problem.
And what jimmy are you trying to be the guy on the innocent girls side? are you trying to get to know some of the girls in here by trying to be the knight in shiny armor?
The way I see it, some women like Sh,Rania, and Doha really bothered and replied great answers, pointed where I might be wrong and where I might be right.Girls you want us to change, write...without being sarcastic and without being on the clouds with poetry.
First of all ya Kodder, since it seems you're a newcomer to the Lebanese blogosphere, allow me to tell you that Jimmy and Eve are two of the greatest bloggers around, and you have no right to talk to them or anyone else in such a disrespectful manner. Last time I checked, we were still a democratic country where every one has the right to express their opinion freely.
Second of all, you have to accept certain inalienable truths: some girls, be they in Lebanon or abroad, freely choose to 'save themselves' for their husband. Many women abroad even preach abstinence. I'm not saying this is wrong or right, I'm just stating facts.
I even know a couple of Lebanese girls with French and Spanish boyfriends who refuse to sleep with them and are convinced of their decision, and their boyfriends actually respect them for it and understand perfectly.
Granted, sex is a natural and healthy part of a relationship, but if it were the only and most important part, then humans would be no better than animals.
Sex as a taboo subject and act is deeply ingrained in our culture and it will take more than a few comments to change that.
In any case, have you seen how many Lebanese girls have been behaving lately?? The sexual revolution is on, my friend, and if you keep waiting for comments on Jamal's blog, you will miss it!
Lebanese girl living in Lebanon.
if you noticed who started the personal direspect first, you will know it wasn't me.
when we are labeled as horny 15 year olds, to grow up, to have a bitchy attitude etc.. etc...
that is considered direspect.
I think I am entittled to defend myself.
Anyway I didnt not DISRESPECT them, I responsded in a sarcastic manner as they did.
I did not label them anything (in fact they did), I did not insult them, I did not use any bad words what's so ever. Jamal stated that he will delete
any post that he finds disrespectful, my posts are still there so they are safe.
But apparently you havent read the comments from the beginning, our main talk has shifted a bit, started with the tease women with no sex, just tease all the time.
to the end when some amazing women here bothered to answered the "horny 15 year olds" as you labeled us. Apparently they thought what we are talking is interesting and they responded in a lovely manner.
So what I figured from them that the majority of man are total assholes in lebanon, they might have been contact with them. Fornuatly my friends around me are nice guys, who love their gfs. a girl I know even email me that 70% of men are assholes, maybe its true. I know I am not an asshole, a pervert yes, but not an asshole.
So we are really trying to open a debate in here a discussion to know what we think, both men and women.
inno if women like you only label us as 15 year old horny guys, great, what has changed? you didnt educate us. you didnt bother to tell us what's wrong.
TELL US. I promise to listen on my side, and I know other will try I bet.
okie boys and girls I am off, had a nice night out and came back to find alot of comments. they are over 80 now.
my suggestion : lets have a meeting. if you are willing to have a discussion about it, not be sarcastic.
Anyway day after 8 pm is good for me. I have things to do during the day.
If a physical meeting impossible (alot of people might not be living in leb) we can have an IRC meeting, or msn room or yahoo or what ever.
anyway I am off for tonight, will read the rest of the comments tomorow.
wow...over 80 comments...I just wished it dealt with a topic a little higher in our priorities in our Lebanon.
this is not to underestimate the importance of the sex issue that apparently generated one of the busiest discussion on a blog i've seen!
a meeting to discuss the sex topic? mmmm I guess we need to meet over alot of more relevant stuff in Lebanon....walla la'a?
How about try to see how we can conduct a real discussion with little firey comments, and personal insults?
How about the issue why the lebanese youth are just leaving the country in alarming numbers. I'm sure it's not of the sex taboo thing.
while sex is a natural and strong desire we all have, humanbeings knew how to rationalize it, and in fact make it more beautiful by not making it a regular thing.
The fact that some insists to keep bringing it in every comment and every discussion young people have is weird and largely unpleasant.
Making sex a taboo to talk about is a mistake that some over-reacted by trying to make it an everyday topic, and in everything we speak (media, video clips, blogs, and some people's comments...etc)!
As for sex in Lebanon, we're definitely still much more conservative than the Europeans in this matter. But who said we need to be like them? Can't we have own identity that will take into considerations our lifestyles?
our distinction?
Women attitude towards sex is so different from men in Lebanon, and all over the world! I dare to say it's in general more rational, and less animal-like.
We have here to be careful that we can't generalize here, and say lebanese women, or lebanese men, as people change in this respect, and almost no 2 persons agree on this matter.
Everybody should do what pleases him when it comes to such a personal issue.
Hashem,
1) While on the surface it seems that sex is the topic here, I think that what many of us are trying to express is the overall repressive nature of Lebanese society and the extent to which people are narrow minded and superficial. Why are we leaving the country? Economics is what leads us to leave but the lack of constraints and the freedom from sectarianism and sexism is what leads us to stay abroad.
2) It is not a matter of becoming like the Europeans or the Americans, rather having the freedom to live our lives however way we choose to.
Lebanese girl (no name?) writes:"some girls, be they in Lebanon or abroad, freely choose to 'save themselves' for their husband." I really wonder if that's an honest feeling my friend for a woman to be willing to 'save' herself for her husband. And again I really wonder if the adverb 'freely' matches the sentence. You see, in my country Iran, when the life gets tougher and tougher and the marriage age gets higher and higher, this attitude has resulted to a huuuuuuuuuuuge social disaster. "Keep" or "Save" or "preserver" yourself for your husband and then get the aggressive (a real ticking bomb!), unpleasant, always frowny girl like ours. They are tortured by this simple human need and do not dare to satisfy it. What's good about it? To me, it is a big lie when the people claim that they don't like to have sex when actually the Nature has put this simple human natural desire in them.
Jamal,
It just shows what sex and Kodder can do to one's comments section. ;)
I couldn't read all these comments, but the length is the most impressive part. I have comments length envy...
I think all of those who talk about romanian girls should think before talk.Don't generalize,it doesn't mean that if some girls from Romania come in Lebanon for other shamefull stuff,it doesn't mean that all girls from Romania are the same.Better go and visit Romania than judge.Or we should do the same and generalize that all arabs from no matter wich arabic country are terorist?
